New Business:
·       Budget sub-committee recommendations distributed. Recommendation is approximately 2% less than 2006 “revised” budget.
Pool – David will investigate the possibility of installing charcoal grills, (safety concerns, responsibility of clean up, cost, effect on Phi Lambda Pi and the concession stand, etc) or even pool members bringing their own small grill to the pool.
·       Motion to accept the budget recommendations made by Gus Janszen; seconded by Wayne Mosley. Motion approved.

Old Business:
·       Tri-Health Report – as shown in the commission packet.
Commission members are requested to begin considering the renewal of contracts for the pool management and the fitness center management; further discussion at an upcoming commission meeting.

Director’s Report:
·       Samples of SwimSafe’s employee newsletter were included in the commission packets. These newsletters were given out with each paycheck and were well received by the staff. Starting next week the pool will open 4:00-8:00pm; many of the lifeguards are preparing or are returning to school.

·       Operating schedule sub-committee will be Mary Lou Isaac, Michele Gottschlich, and David Nichols. They will meet in early September.

·       Kingsport trail has been roughed in. Lime stone has been placed at the head of the trail; however, grass needs to be laid on the remainder of the trail. A bridge also needs to be installed on one pathway. Marketing the trail should begin soon.

·       Rock the Dale concert is Friday, August 18th, 2:00-10:00pm. Wrist bands are only $5 for the all day Rockfest.

Phi Lambda Pi:
·       Report as shown in the commission packet.

Open Discussion:
·       July 4th Fireworks were phenomenal, and the music was very good.

·       Phi Lambda Pi New Member Get-together sounds great.  One new member is teamed with one existing member, and they get to do crazy (but safe) things. Each person on the winning team, after four weeks, receives a $100 VISA gift card.

·       Doug Lohmeier makes a motion that the Recreation Department emails their section of the newsletter each month as a general notice; seconded by Gus Janszen. Motion passed.

·       Tony Hawk Foundation has grants available for skate parks. A questionnaire will be going out to residents later this year. Also, David will contact Wyoming Recreation regarding their experiences at their community skate park.

Motion to adjourn made at 8:43am by Wayne Mosley; seconded by Mary Lou Isaac. Motion passed.
